A healthy and sustainable workplace

At MeetDistrict, the healthiness and sustainability of our locations is of the upmost importance. An optimal workplace is built on well-thought of decisions that enable a productive environment without leaving a big ecological footprint.

What can you do?

Nespresso recycling

We love quality, which also means we love delicious coffee. That's why we choose for Nespresso. Moreover, this B Corp partner respects a comprehensive sustainability policy from bean to cup, and we participate by recycling in a strict manner.

All you have to do is dispose of your cup in the dedicated Nespresso waste bin when you leave for home. Please note: only coffee cups and tea cups! This way, everything will be nicely transformed into usable material again.

Tork recyling

When leaving the sanitary area, one prefers not to leave any traces behind. The same applies for the paper towels you use after washing your hands: they have no place on landfills.

The bins next to the sink are exclusively there to throw in paper towels by our B Corp partner Tork, in order for their contents to be recycled into new material. The only thing you should keep in mind is to dispose of your paper towel in the Tork bin after washing your hand. Seriously; wash them!

Biodegradable tableware

What do you mean, MeetDistrict only provides disposable cups and plates? It might sound weird, but on the large scale that we work on, this option is definitely the most ecologically responsible one. Just think about the huge amount of energy and pollution we'd need to run the dishwasher for almost 2000 Members on a daily basis.

This is why we opt for biodegradable material made from sugar cane and Poly Lactic Acid. Simply throw your plate and your cup in the residual waste bin; they will be fully composted after 90 days. Prefer to use your own porcelain or ceramics? You can - though we still prefer that you didn't - if you promise to clean it yourself.

Dopper

Welcome at MeetDistrict! Every new MeetDistrict Member receives their own Dopper bottle as a welcome gift. That way you'll stay hydrated without having to refill a small cup every ten minutes or so.

Haven't received yours yet? Hurry to the FrontDesk and ask for your bottle!

Let's sort
this out
TOGETHER.

PMD

PMD stands for plastic packaging, metal packaging and drinking cartons. But all of the following can go in as well: crown caps, plastic foil, empty aerosols, etc. Thanks for not throwing these items in residual waste.

Want to know what else doesn't belong in here? Our transparent PLA cups!

Residual waste

Residual waste is what remains after common waste streams such as PMD and glass are taken out of the main stream. Processing residual waste usually consumes more energy than other waste streams, so remember to dispose of the correct materials in PMD and the paper basket.

Want to know what to definitely do throw in residual waste? The MeetDistrict PLA cups and sugar cane plates! These transform into compost about 90 days after disposal; thus helping to speed up the dissolving process.

Did you know...

... that at every MeetDistrict location, up to 60l of fresh air is blown in per m³? That's quite above the 40l/m³ required by the Belgian Codex for Wellbeing at Work.

HVAC

A healthy workplace with fresh air and comfortable room temperatures is our top priority. It is no secret that this requires a lot of energy, which is exactly why we pay close attention to respecting the boundaries of what is necessary without having to sacrifice on comfort.

Each room is equipped with a range of sensors that pick up on movement, the indoor temperature relative to the outdoor temperature, and the amount of CO2 in the room. To keep this monitoring stable, it is important not to exponentially raise or lower the room temperature. An extra jumper or a closed door works wonders!

A safe environment

Our main goal: happy Members. Which is why we created the MeetDistrict Code of Conduct in collaboration with the sounding board within our Community: the MeetDistrict MBASSY. This code summarises how we work together to ensure that MeetDistrict is and always will remain a pleasant and safe working environment to come back to.

In addition, we're always available to provide a listening ear when you need it. It's clear that Community Host Elise and our team at the FrontDesk are happy to help at all times, but feel free to ask the rest of Team MeetDistrict as well. You are our priority.

Safety first

MeetDistrict has proudly earned the ISO 45001 certification, which proves that we prioritise effective measures for the health and safety of our employees, Members and visitors.

We have therefore created a strict emergency plan for each of our locations, including the designation of a couple of stewards to make sure that everyone knows where to go in case of evacuation. As a promise to you, we constantly follow up on our safety procedures to avoid unthinkable situations. All you have to do, is to make your way to the assembly point on the Albert Heijn car park when the alarm sounds.

Smart infrastructure

Thanks to our smart infrastructure, we know exactly which energy-eaters get to be turned off. For example; if no movement is detected in the offices, the lights do not need to be on. And when a MeetBox is not booked, the presentation screen can be turned off.

This is why you should never forget to terminate your booking with your app when your meeting has come to an early end. Another easy way to bring down our carbon footprint.

Did you know...

... that we balance our CO2 levels around 660 ppm at all MeetDistrict sites? All the while the legal maximum requires almost 900 ppm.

Strong buildings

Three of our locations carry the BREEAM Core & Shell Excellent label. This means that our buildings meet high standards of sustainability and environmental performance. In Diegem, for example, we go under ground to contract 90% of our energy for heating and cooling, and here in Ghent we share heat and cooling with all of the tenants of the Planet Group Arena through a loop system.

You see how everything is geared towards optimal energy consumption and a smaller ecological footprint. Therefore, can we kindly ask you to take care of our buildings?

See you on Earth Day!

Will you join us in celebrating Earth Day? On this holiday for sustainability, we like to highlight our initiatives to ensure a sustainable workplace without compromising on quality, healthiness and appearance. Take part in one of the activities at the several MeetDistrict locations and discover which small changes in your daily life can contribute to a better planet.

Got an idea for a fun activity yourself? Feel free to share your suggestion with us. As for now: write down 22nd April 2025 in your calendar!
